A sad and odd drowning took place right out in front of the Range Lights on August 6, 1938. The keeper's daughter, Lucy Mae Woodward, age 10, died in waist-deep water. The cause of her death was diagnosed as a heart problem. The newspaper accounts from the Bath Daily Times of Lucy's death show some differences between then and now -- we hope.
